InfraPartners, the turnkey data centre builder, and XYZ Reality have brought modular construction and augmented reality validation together on two projects.
InfraPartners operates globally and uses a modular approach to develop data centres. Via the Atom augmented reality (AR) headset, the XYZ team is providing factory accuracy validation to ensure the quality and speed of the modular components before they are shipped to the construction site.
According to InfraPartners, this is crucial due to challenges such as local skilled labour shortages, the risk of delays once components arrive on site, and inconsistencies that can commonly occur during the build phase of a data centre.
As an example of the latter, InfraPartners points to the accuracy and coordination required between the prefabricated modules and the existing onsite infrastructure. By using the Atom headset, InfraPartners can precisely review and proactively verify the construction of each individual module in the factory, while simultaneously visualising the adjoining modules and existing services in 3D.
A leap forward for quality
Michalis Grigoratos, InfraPartners chief executive, said: “Partnering with XYZ Reality and using their technology marks a significant advancement for our company. The ability to visualise and verify every detail of the prefabricated modules in 3D before they even leave our factory is truly revolutionary.
“Since XYZ Reality joined our team on site, the quality and accuracy has exceeded what we have seen in the industry in the past. We’ve leveraged their platform’s intelligence to track progress in real-time, allowing us to pay our workforce based on the precise percentage of work completed. This demonstrates the deep trust we place in XYZ’s technology.”
David Mitchell, founder and chief executive of XYZ Reality, added: “This project is monumental, not just for InfraPartners and XYZ Reality, but also for the entire data centre industry. By integrating our technology with InfraPartners’ expertise, we are setting a new standard for accuracy and efficiency in prefabricated construction. This collaboration is truly game changing.”
