The Wates Group has achieved a tier one British Standards Institute (BSI) BIM Level 2 Business certification, following an eight-month verification process.
The award comes as the company delivers an increasing number of projects using digital technologies, including BIM, across the public and private sectors.
The tier one lead contractor award includes certification across lead design, construction and project management.
To achieve the verification, the company demonstrated compliance with BIM Level 2 in accordance with BIM industry standards PAS 1192-2:2013, BS 1192-4:2014 and BS1192:2007+A2:2016; whilst evidencing that standardised processes and procedures for BIM implementation had been developed and implemented across the business.
With established processes and procedures having been in place across the group for more than five years, the certification is a significant benchmark of Wates’ growing capability to deliver BIM projects.
Lucy Abbott, BIM director at Wates Group, said: “This certification gives assurance to our customers that we utilise BIM to manage information to the highest standard from project inception through to completion.
“BIM provides a huge opportunity for the industry and our business to grow and prosper, and we need to work together to ensure that we make the very best success of what BIM has to offer.”
Andrew Davies, chief executive of Wates, added: “This certification is absolute testament to the quality of our people and their capability to deliver digital construction. We recognise that BIM and developing digital technologies are the future of our business, and as such this certification aligns with our group strategy.
