As digital transformation continues apace in the AECO industry, thought leaders from some of the most innovative organisations are set to gather to help map the industry’s future at London’s ExCeL in October (18-19) during this year’s Digital Construction Week (DCW).
At the heart of DCW is the two-day conference planned in partnership with the UK government’s Digital Built Britain (DBB) strategy.
Attendees will receive an exclusive update from the DBB team at the event with presentations from Mark Bew, Fiona Moore, David Philp, Terry Stocks and Simon Hart, joined by many others including the Cabinet Office’s Alex Lubbock and Crossrail’s Andrew Wolstenholme.
In addition to the main conference programme, five different seminar streams will offer more than 90 hours of free content covering this year’s key areas of BIM, Geospatial, Visualisation, Industry 4.0 and Tech.
Speaker session highlights from the conference programme include:
Alex Lubbock, head of digital construction, Infrastructure Projects Authority, at the Cabinet Office, will share the government’s approach to digital adoption and implementation, looking at why they’re supporting BIM Level 3 and their view of the industry following a series of construction site visits with key stakeholders across the industry.
Mike Haley, head of machine intelligence at Autodesk, will present a session entitled The Future Will See You Now: AI for Design and Build, in which he will cover how applying immense computation to large data sets in the cloud sets off a revolution in tools for designing and creating the built world.
Simon Rawlinson, head of strategic research & insight, Arcadis/Construction Leadership Council, will be asking: “What Should Construction be Famous For?” He claims that the industry is still discussing the potential for off-site manufacture and building information modelling (BIM), rather than embedding these processes as business as usual, and poses the question: “Does it have to be this way?”
Anthony Buckley-Thorp, managing partner at Flux FAST Team and James Moore, strategic account manager at Google Cloud Platform (GCP), will reveal how they are pioneering an innovative approach using the Flux platform powered by Google Cloud to develop bespoke digital applications and technology in partnership with architecture, engineering and construction firms worldwide.
Menno de Jong, director of digital construction at Royal BAM Group, will offer in insight into the journey towards digital transformation by one of Europe’s leading construction companies, detailing the opportunities it has presented along the way.
