Commercial fit-out firm Beacons Business Interiors (Bbi Group) has taken receipt of a touch-free security turnstile that uses facial recognition and can take a worker’s temperature in a bid to ensure a covid free workplace.
The turnstile has been developed between security tech firm Envision Intelligent Solutions, which is manufacturing the turnstile, and software developer North Time and Data (NDT).
Bbi is the first company to receive the new turnstile, which it will use to check-in, and out, 100 employees at a 20,000m2 site in Chepstow, Wales, where the company has a 13-month contract to refurbish a storage warehouse.
The Gateway Turnstile uses a new cloud-based software system that links directly to the company’s payroll and HR systems. It records the date and time an employee enters a site, takes their temperature and alerts management if their temperature is too high.
Software with the turnstile allows companies to upload CSR/CSCS qualifications and gives access to personnel training files in-real time, to ensure H&S qualifications are up to date.
Dave Bastier from Bbi said the company chose the turnstile to control access to and from site while maintaining physical distancing, and preventing contamination through touching surfaces.
He said: “The Envision Gateway has been positioned between the car park and the principal entrance to site and provided the perfect solution to that need. Training and backup for our site administrator has also been excellent.”
Envision IS managing director Philip Murdock said: “Our clients in the construction industry asked for a bespoke security system that incorporated facial and thermal access readers with a time and attendance system, which is completely cloud networked.
“During the pandemic, they needed a contactless product that could link back to their head office and provide the data in real time.”
NDT adapted its NT Pro Workforce Management System – a facial recognition check-in system – for the construction industry.
