Dave Philp, formerly director of digital consulting, strategy and innovation at Aecom Europe, has joined Bentley Systems’ Cohesive Group as chief value officer.

Philp told BIMplus: “I am really excited to have joined Cohesive as chief value officer. I’ll be helping our clients to create value-driven impact across their built assets’ lifecycles. Our value approach to digital will take up the multi-dimensional challenges facing built environment clients, especially real-world ESG and economic challenges.

”By creating a clear line of sight between valued-based outcomes and practical steps for digital transformation, we can make big ideas relatable, actionable and proportionate. This approach is essential if we are to create a brighter future for our built environment and ensure that investments can deliver the very best outcomes and thus value, while making the most effective use of our limited planetary resources.”

Philp added: “Also, I am thrilled to re-join colleagues such as Dr Mark Bew MBE [Cohesive chief executive] and Jon Kerbey [Cohesive managing director EMEA], whom I had the pleasure of working with and making change happen during the UK BIM Task Group days. After my first day, it feels like a bit of a continuum rather than a fresh start. Speaking to the [Cohesive] team, I can see we’re all committed to a better built environment.”

Eight years at Aecom

He joins Cohesive after eight years at Aecom. Prior to that he had stints at Mace and Balfour Beatty. “You could say this is the fourth chapter in my career,” Philp said. “I’ve had eight happy years at Aecom, and I’ve learned so much in the role. And it was time to do something a bit different, the natural time for a refresh.”

He will continue with his extracurricular work, including the role of co-vice-chair at BE-ST (formerly the Construction Scotland Innovation Centre) and Scottish co-regional lead for Women in BIM.

Bentley Systems subsidiary Cohesive acquired Dr Bew’s PCSG (Professional Construction Strategies Group) in October 2020. Katherine Bew founded PCSG in 2000; her husband Dr Bew chaired the company. He became Cohesive CEO earlier this year.
