Dave Peacock has joined multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy Rolton Group in the new role of head of digital.
Peacock was previously technical director at TÜV SÜD.
Rolton provides a range of geotechnical, civil and infrastructure, structural, mechanical & electrical, strategic energy, design coordination and digital engineering design and consultancy services. Its clients include Taylor Wimpey, Gleeds, Jaguar Land Rover, Redrow, Bloor Homes, Aston Martin and BMW.
Peacock told BIMplus: “I have been aware of Rolton for a number of years when working for other engineering consultancies. The company has a great reputation, which matches the ability and efforts of the team.
“When the role was pointed out to me it was immediately of interest, so I jumped at the chance to discuss it with the MD and then later the board of directors. Rather than being purely BIM focused, I was eager for a broader view across BIM, digital and information management. The board wholeheartedly agreed with this ethos."
Multi-faceted role
He added: “I wear a few hats in the role, which is how I like it! I’ll be assisting the in-house engineering teams to deliver projects for our clients, bringing efficiencies and automation to the designing, modelling and document management processes wherever possible.
“I will advise clients of the processes, procedures and standards involved in digital within the AEC industry, providing services and platforms for them to be able to achieve their information requirement goals.
“Also, I will lead the digital service line. This includes document management and information management specialists that offer a wide range of digital solutions to clients.”
Key projects
Asked about the key learning from his time at TÜV SÜD, Peacock said: “I have been fortunate to work within some great companies over my 25-year career so far, such as RPS, BWB and Royal HaskoningDHV. I have been involved in a range of BIM-related roles within those organisations and on key projects for the last 15 years.
“My previous role as technical director at TÜV SÜD taught me a lot when it comes to assessment, advisory and training. Those aspects were my focus for clients, which was a change from previous roles.
“Having an impartial view of an organisation or project can be very valuable! I have taken those lessons into my new role and will use the experience where relevant to add value to our clients.”
Peacock will continue with his extra-curricular roles at the UK BIM Alliance, UK BIM Framework and buildingSMART International.
