A round-up of BIM and digital construction stories you might have missed in the past fortnight, including Digital Construction North’s call for speakers.

Digital Construction North seeks speakers

Digital Construction North, the new show spun out from Digital Construction Week, is seeking industry professionals to share their best practice.

The show takes place on 13 November in Manchester Central Convention Complex, and 1,000 digital construction professionals are expected to attend. There are three presentation stages focusing on information management, innovation and transformation. The deadline to apply to speak at the show is 16 August.

Graitec unveils 2025 add-ons to Autodesk suite

Graitec has unveiled the latest additions to its PowerPack software that complements the Autodesk suite, including Revit, Inventor, Vault, Advance Steel and Plant 3D.

Among the key features are:

  • in PowerPack for Revit, users can automatically detect and visualise analytical model disconnections with intuitive sphere indicators;
  • users can create cage ladders with multiple exit options and cage types by combining the ability to design them vertically or sloped with PowerPack for Advance Steel;
  • with PowerPack for Plant 3D, users can streamline their workflow with the enhanced Copy Drawing Browser feature that accelerates drawing transfers by automatically uploading and copying all dwg files from selected project folders;
  • users can leverage the Copy Drawings feature to automatically replace title blocks, update borders, and remove iLogic rules within batch drawing processing with PowerPack for Inventor; and
  • with PowerPack for Vault, users can streamline lifecycle management by designing workflows, permissions and actions in an intuitive, colour-coded diagram, and push the final output to Autodesk Vault.

Proicere appoints Kurt Metcalfe

Programme and project consultancy Proicere has appointed Kurt Metcalfe as associate director. His background in digital engineering in the nuclear and energy sectors will help Proicere deliver on its ambitions in those sectors. Among Proicere’s customers is Sellafield.

Metcalfe joins Proicere from Babcock International, where he led a digital engineering function, delivering engineering design compliance to BIM, providing digital services to projects and re-education on the 19650 project delivery modules.
