Schedule health: this provides health checks against stress tests, such as the CIOB Planning Protocol

Digital construction consultancy Acumine has launched an out-of-the-box integration for Elecosoft’s Asta PowerProject platform with Microsoft Fabric and Power BI.

The integration “empowers construction companies and individual projects with unprecedented, actionable insights into their construction programmes and schedules, transforming project management and execution”, Acumine claims.

Acumine director Daniel Maddocks explained further: “Managing construction projects involves balancing numerous tasks, timelines, and resources. While Asta PowerProject is a powerful tool for planning and scheduling, its capabilities are significantly enhanced through integration with Microsoft Fabric and Power BI.”

He said the benefits of this solution include:

  • enhanced data insights – users can gain deeper insights into construction programmes with advanced analytics and visualisations;
  • custom data schema – Acumine’s bespoke data schema extracts and tailors necessary data from PowerProject, meeting common contractor requirements and enabling rapid deployment; and
  • standardised data transformations – Acumine’s Python notebooks standardise all required data transformations, packaged for quick deployment to Microsoft Fabric or Azure Data platforms.

Power BI templates

The integration also provides prebuilt Power BI templates that are compatible with the extracted and transformed data, and offer instant visualisation and analysis capabilities, including:

  • portfolio dashboard that provides insight into the performance of projects across large portfolios with interactive tooltips and drill-down capabilities;
  • summary report providing an overview of key project metrics and performance indicators with automatically generated commentary;
  • S-curves, which visualise progress and performance against the baseline schedule, tailored for any combination of code library or programme path;
  • activity overview, providing detailed insights into schedule performance, including the critical path;
  • schedule health provides health checks against stress tests, such as the CIOB Planning Protocol;
  • lookaheads that enable report viewers to generate short-term lookaheads for managing activities due to start or finish; and
  • resource management, which tracks planned resource levels, with potential integration with site entrance systems to track actuals.

If someone doesn’t have a Microsoft Fabric or Azure data platform, Acumine can host and manage their reports as a service.
